Your club, league, or association is invited to apply to compete in the 17th Annual Summer Classic to be played August 28-30, 2009. The Summer Classic is a Class I tournament open to USYSA FIFA affiliated club/league teams and is an approved tournament of the New Jersey Youth Soccer Association affiliated with USYSC, USSF, and FIFA.

Tournament Information 
   ELITE - State Cup Champions or Finalists and Top Team from each State for U11-U19.
   PREMIER
- The premier teams in each age group, typically Division I Teams 
   NATIONAL - Teams that compete in Division II and III.

 

NUMBER OF GAMES:
Each team will be scheduled to play four (4) games on Saturday and Sunday.  Teams will be broken into flights of 4, 5, 6, or 8 teams.  The number of games will change depending on how many games are necessary to produce a flight champion.  If unforeseen circumstances, such as weather or late withdrawals, force games to be cancelled, the Summer Classic is not liable and there will be no refunds for un-played games.  Depending on the applications received, each age group could not be represented in each competition level.

 

GAME FORMATS/ROSTER SIZE:
*The U8, U-9 and U-10 age groups will play 8v8 on smaller fields and will be consider as participation only as per NJYS guidelines. The "Competitive" format will consist of divisions (U-11 and higher) that will compete for awards/trophies as we have done in the past. The other "Participation" format will consist of divisions that will participate in round-robin play without posting scores, tabulating rankings or receiving placement awards. The game format will be based on eligibility for team’s 2009/10 season.

 

Teams playing 11v11 may have up to 18 players of which a maximum of three (3) may be guest players. Teams playing 8v8 may have up to 14 players. Guest players must be current USYS/USSF or national equivalent players whose team is not participating in the Summer Classic. Teams entered for competition must be (1) in a league affiliated with the USSF or national equivalent and (2) sanctioned by the appropriate State or National Association.

 

AWARDS:
The winning team in each Championship game will receive a trophy. In addition each player on the roster of the winning team will receive a champion medal. Each player on the runner-up team will receive a finalist medal. In the Non-Comp division (U8-U10) each player will receive a participation medal.

 

FORMS FOR THE Summer Classic:
Prior to the start of competition, teams must present proof of affiliation and permission to travel, validated State roster and passes, US Club Soccer roster and passes, as well as parental medical release forms which are required for all players. Passes will be required for each game and will be held by the field marshall along with the team copy of the official roster.

 

As a convenience to teams, the Summer Classic has copies of all forms available for downloading from our web site.

There is limited parking at Patriots Park. Parking will be limited to one side on Bowman Road. The Jackson Summer Classic strongly recommends that you use the shuttle bus service that will leave from the lot at the Jackson Memorial High School every half hour. Parking tickets will be issued by the local PD on Bowman Road where the parking signage is not observed. The Summer Classic is NOT responsible for tickets issued.
