A. Player Responsibilities

Participation in Jackson Soccer Club is a privilege, not a right. By registering with JSC, players agree to uphold the following standards of conduct to promote responsibility, respect, and good sportsmanship:

  1. Play for enjoyment, not solely to satisfy others. Strive to improve individual and team skills through consistent effort and focus.

  2. Learn, understand, and respect the laws of the game and follow them at all times.

  3. Show courtesy and respect to coaches by listening and following directions.

  4. Respect game officials. Refrain from questioning or commenting on their decisions during or after games.

  5. Show sportsmanship by treating opposing teams, coaches, and players with respect at all times, especially after a match.

  6. Maintain self-control. Avoid abusive or profane language, taunting, gestures, or physical aggression.

  7. Treat teammates, opponents, coaches, officials, and spectators with dignity and respect at all times.

  8. Wear the complete and proper uniform and gear to all practices and games, including shin guards and appropriate footwear. Bring water and avoid wearing jewelry for safety reasons.

  9. Help keep fields and facilities clean. Treat all practice and game environments with care, as you would your own home.

  10. Always carry proper identification and wear the appropriate uniform during games.

  11. Attendance is essential. Emergencies are understood, but consistent participation is expected. Notify JSC promptly if an issue arises. Chronic absenteeism may result in removal from the program.

  12. All players must attend annual evaluations each spring for team placement in the following season.

  13. Coaches reserve the right to move players to a different team based on ability, attitude, or club needs to ensure the best development environment.

B. Social Media Guidelines

Players must use social media responsibly and respectfully. The following rules apply:

  1. Do not share the location or any photos from inside private spaces (e.g., hotel rooms) during team travel.

  2. Never post profanity, hate speech, or racial slurs—whether or not they mention JSC.

  3. Refrain from making negative comments about players, coaches, parents, or clubs (including opponents).

  4. Do not criticize officials, tournaments, leagues, or event organizers online.

  5. Avoid any negative commentary about Jackson Soccer Club, its coaches, players, staff, or families.

  6. When sharing or commenting on JSC-related posts, maintain respectful language and tone.

  7. Positive posts highlighting JSC activities, games, or players are encouraged. Tag JSC when appropriate.

C. Anti-Bullying Policy

Jackson Soccer Club is committed to providing a safe and respectful environment for all participants. Bullying in any form will not be tolerated and will be addressed promptly.

Bullying is defined as:
"Unwanted, aggressive behavior that involves a real or perceived power imbalance. The behavior is repeated or has the potential to be repeated over time." (Source: www.stopbullying.gov)

Types of bullying include:

  1. Verbal: Insults, threats, or derogatory language.

  2. Social (Relational): Spreading rumors, exclusion, or damaging reputations.

  3. Physical: Harming someone’s body or possessions.

Any player found bullying another individual will be subject to immediate dismissal from Jackson Soccer Club.

D. Enforcement

Violations of this Code of Conduct may result in disciplinary action, up to and including permanent removal from JSC programs and activities. All infractions will be reviewed by the club. Suspensions or removals due to conduct violations are not grounds for registration fee refunds.

E. Injury Reporting & Health Responsibility

Jackson Soccer Club places a high priority on the health and safety of all players. Players are expected to take personal responsibility for managing their health and well-being in the following ways:

  1. Players must report any injuries, illnesses, or symptoms to their coach or trainer immediately—before, during, or after games and practices.

  2. Players should not attempt to play through serious pain or injury without clearance from a qualified medical professional.

  3. If diagnosed with a concussion or any condition requiring rest, players must follow return-to-play protocols as directed by healthcare providers and JSC guidelines.

  4. Players are expected to stay hydrated, maintain proper nutrition, and get adequate rest to support performance and recovery.

  5. If a player requires medication (e.g., asthma inhaler, EpiPen), it must be discussed with the coach prior to the season or as soon as the need arises.
